Vesselify’s new online platform will have a theme each month woven throughout practice videos, writing, and more
That way we can totally dig into what that topic means.
This month we chose a theme centered around the idea of real happiness.
At first glance the idea of real happiness might seem like putting a garnish on a compost heap, considering the dilapidated state of the world in which we find ourselves.
But bare with me.
Everyone wants to be happy regardless of whether our circumstances are fortunate or unfortunate.
Certainly, the world doesn’t always dish out circumstances that bring us happiness – particularly right now (oh, hey Omicron!).
No amount of bypassing life’s struggles can make you happy either.
However, there is room for nuance.
Real happiness, I’ve learned over the years of practicing yoga and learning from the community, is the ability to hold grief and sadness simultaneously with joy and laughter.
Before having a yoga practice, happiness felt very black or white to me – I was either happy or I was sad.
After having a yoga practice it feels possible to feel grief, despair, and heartbreak, rather than deny, ignore, or suppress them. And in the same breath, I can still embrace feelings of delight, gratitude, and elation when they arise.
Join us this month as we explore the paradox of real happiness on our sparkly new online practice platform!
Do you relate? What does real happiness mean to you? Leave us a comment!
